The brief

Keep the street's memory. Give the family the house they need.

Brindabella is a 100-year-old heritage property in central Wagga Wagga. We kept the front façade exactly as the street knows it, and added a rear extension built to complement the original frontage rather than compete with it.

Inside, the home became a four-bedroom family house with an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space opening onto a rear deck.

The extension maintains the flow of the original cottage — the fireplaces, mantles, pressed metal ceilings and original period pieces were all restored — while the new work is unapologetically neoclassical.

What's in it

Project features.

Exquisitely detailed finishes throughout — the kind of work that only shows up close.

Porcelain tiled bathroom and ensuite with claw bath.

Three decorative fireplaces with beautiful white mantles.

French doors opening onto the verandah at the side of the home.

Stylish white kitchen with Caesarstone benchtop, Parisian pendant lights and a pressed metal splashback.

Bi-fold doors and windows opening out onto the outdoor deck area.

Spotted gum flooring with large Victorian skirting and architraves.

Restored pressed metal ceilings and original period detail throughout.

A neoclassical rear extension that reads as though it was always there.
